Your Own Carpet

Sure, you probably vacuum once in a while. But what you may be surprised to find is that your carpet is actually one of the dirtiest spots in your house when it comes to the amount of bacteria it may be harboring. Between kids, pets, and your own shoes dragging over the carpet, it’s no wonder that carpets boast up to 700 times the amount of bacteria of a toilet. In one square inch of carpet you can expect to find over 200,000 bacteria. So what do you do? There’s not much you honestly can do to disinfect your carpet except for occasionally hiring a company to deep clean it but at the very least, don’t take the five second rule as gospel when you pick up a piece of food off a carpeted floor.
