8. Its Reputation Was Built On Lies
Whole Foods always prided itself on being a responsible and customer-oriented chain that did things differently from the standard tried-and-true grocery stores. But it turns out that though the facade is prettier and more visually appealing, the core of Whole Foods is more rotten than your local grocer. Whole Foods touts itself as a chain that is ethical and responsible, but the fact that they routinely gouged customers in New York (and California), and that their ‘Responsibly Grown’ produce that claims to offer organic-quality at lower prices has been shown by organic farmers to be untrue has dented their principles. It appears that for all its claims of being something new and different, Whole Foods is just like everyone else, only more expensive.
